Paul HopkinsonELAP Director in Austin, United States![]() Paul studied Spanish and Communication at Stonehill College in Easton, MA where he participated in a service-learning trip to the outskirts of Lima, Peru and studied abroad in Zaragoza, Spain. His passion for service and Spanish led him to Austin as an AmeriCorps volunteer at a shelter for Latin American immigrants. After briefly working at his alma mater, Paul returned to Austin to work as a Bilingual Admission Counselor and Academic Advisor at St. Edward's University. Paul traveled throughout the U.S. and Latin America recruiting and advising students as well as leading groups on Alternative Spring Break Trips to the outskirts of Lima. Upon receiving his M.A. in Spanish from Texas State University, Paul sought opportunities to encourage university students to volunteer and intern abroad. He joined Experiential Learning Abroad Programs (ELAP), a division of ISA, as Associate Director in 2011 and is excited to continue helping students find transformative experiences that will challenge them to step outside their comfort zone, learn about themselves and others.
