Barranquilla

Situated along the Magdalena River and known as the "Golden Gate to Colombia," Barranquilla (population approx. 2 million) is a vibrant and cosmopolitan Caribbean port city in northern Colombia. The city hosts the Carnaval de Barranquilla - one of the biggest carnivals in the world. As the birthplace of some famous Colombians, both Shakira and Sofia Vergara were born in Barranquilla, this fun living and friendly city is filled with a unique rhythm and pulse year round.

Barranquilla started it's life as "Colombia's port" in the early 1600s. Through the years Barranquilla has welcomed people from all over the world, including Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. This diverse population has given the city a unique and friendly feel and an international flair.
