    COURSE DESCRIPTION :
This is a capstone course in which students learn to connect the concepts learned in management, marketing and finance courses. In project teams of four (a leader responsible for overall strategy and coordination of the project, one student responsible for each of Marketing, Finance, and Operations) students demonstrate their creativity and develop their entrepreneurial skills in a business plan for a new venture. A part of each class will be devoted to the ongoing development of the business plan.

    INSTRUCTIONAL METHODOLOGY :
There will be no final exam so it is very important to meet all of the individual and team requirements on the project. You are required to do a team project and present your work in a series of stagegates. To proceed to the next stagegate you must get approval from the professor. Your class participation grade will be based on the quality of your homework and project presentation. Pick a business idea and validate with the professor. Your 20 minute slide presentation should be accompanied by a business plan write-up including financial statements in a spreadsheet.

    TEXTBOOK :
Longenecker, More , Petty, Managing Small Businesses, Southwestern

    EVALUATION :
Class participation and individual project stagegates 50% + Team project stagegates and final presentation 50%
