    DESCRIPTION:
    Enterprise social networking platforms (ESNs); business to business (B2B) & business to employee (B2E) enterprise social software and underlying technologies; enterprise collaboration roadmap & user-adoption strategies for effective enterprise deployments; social network mining; information security & governance

    RATIONALE: 
    The module exposes students to the emerging social business paradigm and the leading position of enterprise social networking platforms. Social Analytics and community metric analysis techniques are discussed and analysed at various levels. Different business collaboration scenarios are presented and students are exposed to the social software technologies and analysis tools available to satisfy them. The importance of the human factor is explained and analysed thoroughly together with a proposed plan for effective user-adoption strategies. The paramount importance of information security and governance models required inside the organizational borders is thoroughly assessed as opposed to those used in the public cloud social.

    LEARNING OUTCOMES: 
    As a result of taking this course, the student should be able to:
    1. Demonstrate knowledge of available tools covering the enterprise collaboration spectrum by analysing social business culture patterns, drivers & inhibitors inside organizational borders.
    2. Develop a sound enterprise social collaboration roadmap by evaluating the dynamics resulting from the social integration of other vital enterprise systems inside the organization and by establishing governance practices including the integration of technology ethical issues
    3. Point-out nuggets of information from social networks that could be useful in decision making.

    METHOD OF TEACHING AND LEARNING:
    In congruence with the teaching and learning strategy of the college, the following tools are used:
    • Classroom lectures. Possibly laboratory practical sessions.
    • Office hours held by the instructor to provide further assistance to students.
    • Use of the Blackboard Learning platform, where instructors post lecture notes, assignment instructions, timely announcements, as well as additional resources.
