This placement for zoology majors and future zoo keepers will allow participants to gain experience in all aspects of animal care and maintenance including animal feeding, food preparation, grooming, maintenance of live food colonies and animal record keeping. Equine Veterinary Centers
Perform mobile veterinary services or work in a state-of-the art hospital facility. Responsibilities could range from assisting veterinarians with daily rounds treating and working with horses to having the opportunity to observe surgeries or travelling to the thoroughbred spelling farms and pre-training facilities. Past placements include: Garrards Equine Veterinary Practice and Randwick Equine Center
Whale Research (Seasonal)
During the whale migration period, interns spend time in both the field to collect biopsy samples and in the lab to isolate and database the songs of humpback whales, cumulating in writing a literature review of the findings. Other opportunities exist in population measuremetns and behavioural responses of the whales.
