You may be able to combine any of the Service-Learning Experiences below with an ISA Academic Program.
Learn about health administration, health issues and prevention in Costa Rica. This organization is a great fit for students interested in community health. Participants will learn about health management and how clinics operate in Costa Rica. Participants will have the opportunity to help the administrative department, interact with patients and be part of organizing workshops for the community. Shadowing doctors is not allowed in this clinic due to strict politics, but there’s a chance that the student might shadow the dentist during small procedures, but is not guaranteed. The clinic is open to new ideas and if the participant wants to develop a specific project regarding the medical area, it can be discussed with the supervisor and the onsite service-learning coordinator. Participants are required to complete the Global Ambassadors for Patient Safety (GAPS) workshop for eligibility. *Limited availability for Summer 2017
