Neighborhood public health clinics throughout Santiago remain understaffed, resulting in a high need for volunteers, NGOs, and international health professionals to assist in providing basic health services. Participants have the opportunity to observe doctors and nurses during consultations with patients, update patient files, help prepare consultation rooms, and assist with public health initiatives in the community. Placements that may involve patient interaction are observation-based; participants are required to complete the Global Ambassadors for Patient Safety (GAPS) workshop for eligibility.

Pharmacy

Spanish (Intermediate)

This pharmaceutical dispensary provides low-cost medications to smaller communities surrounding Santiago. Working closely with staff at the central warehouse in Santiago, participants help to sort and organize medication to the smaller dispensaries after they arrive at the central pharmacy. Participants may also assist with invoice preparation and inventory management. Placements that may involve patient interaction are observation-based; participants are required to complete the Global Ambassadors for Patient Safety (GAPS) workshop for eligibility.
