All ISA New Zealand semester abroad students experience our infamous Bridging Cultures Program in Auckland and Rotorua. This gives you 4 days on the North Island to soak up the culture of two amazing areas while meeting other students and getting acclimated to the country.

ISA Excursions for Christchurch participants:

1. Auckland/Rotorua Bridging Cultures Orientation Program
Experience a traditional Marae, learn the haka, visit Hobbiton, explore natural thermal pools, and swim in Lake Rotorua all while meeting other students and participating in orientation sessions.

2. TranzAlpine Scenic Escape
Take the KiwiRail Scenic Escape train from Christchurch, to Greymouth, before touring up the coast to Punakaiki on the famous Coast Road. Discover the untouched beauty of Paparoa National Park, sub-tropical rainforests, limestone gorges, the Pancake Rocks, the Blowholes, and the wild beaches.

3. Antarctic Center + Willowbank
The Antarctic Centre allows students to experience survival in an indoor Antarctic Storm, learn about life at Scott Base, and hang out with Little Blue Penguins! Continue on the Willowbank Wildlife Reserve to learn about the conservation and preservation of New Zealand wildlife, rare breeds, nature and culture.

4. Sumner Surf School (Spring Only)

Students will spend the morning learning to surf in the Canterbury's most popular surf spot. Whether a beginner or seasoned surfer, Sumner has the perfect waves for everyone.

5. Optional Spring/Fall Break Excursions to Thailand, Bali, or Australia

DUNEDIN


FRIENDLY - COLLEGIATE - UNTAMED
- A rugged landscape of mountains gives way to Dunedin, a charming college town on the the coast
- Study at University of Otago
- Known for beautiful beaches and unique wildlife

ISA Excursions for Dunedin participants:

1. Auckland/Rotorua Bridging Cultures Orientation Program
Experience a traditional Marae, learn the haka, visit Hobbiton, explore natural thermal pools, and swim in Lake Rotorua all while meeting other students and participating in orientation sessions.

2. Day Trip to the Catlins
Located just over an hour south of Dunedin is the stunning region known as the Catlins. In this day excursion you will have a chance to see waterfalls, wildlife and majestic geological wonders.

3. Two Nights in Queenstown
There is so much to see and do in Queenstown, which is commonly referred to as the adventure capital of the world!

4. Overnight trip to the North Otago Region and Lake Tekapo
On this overnight excursion you will discover a glimpse of the majestic South Island landscape and what makes this area so unique to New Zealand. Includes a stargazing trip to a world class observatory.

5. Optional Spring/Fall Break Excursions to Thailand, Bali, or Australia
