With over 332 islands of tropical warmth, pristine beaches and welcoming people, Fiji is the perfect place to explore nature and discover culture while studying abroad. The country's multifaceted culture reveals Indo-Fijian, Asian, and European roots, all melding together to form a unique, relaxed environment.

Dutch explorer Abel Tasman arrived in Fiji in 1643, two centuries before Europeans began permanently settling on the islands. Prior to the Europeans, Fiji was inhabited by the Lapita people, ancestors of the Polynesians, as well as the Melanesians, who traded with and traveled amongst other South Pacific island nations. The result is a culture of many languages and influences, distinctively Fijian. The traditional and the modern intertwine in Fiji, as seen in food, art, architecture, and the traditional Fijian war cry performed by the national rugby team, the Flying Fijians, before each match.

Fiji is a favorite spot for tourism with its perpetually warm weather, beautiful beaches, relaxed style, and welcoming environment. By studying in Fiji, you have the opportunity to move beyond what tourists see, engaging with the culture and discovering all that is truly unique about Fiji.
