Students fly into Madrid where they meet the ISA resident staff and the rest of the ISA-HS group, participate in a multi-day pre-program excursion in Madrid, Toledo, and El Escorial, as well as attend on-site orientations. During the orientations, the ISA staff discusses heath and safety while abroad, Spain’s history and culture, what to expect while living with a homestay, the academic program, and adjusting to daily life in Salamanca. After arriving in the city, students meet their homestay, visit the on-site office, take a language placement exam administered by the University of Salamanca and begin classes.
