Tuition and Academic Credits

Tuition at the host university is included in the program price. All classes are held at the host university and are taught by faculty from the host country. Students can earn 3 - 42 hours of credit depending upon the length of the program, or more for full master's degree programs. An official transcript will be issued by the host university upon completion of the program. Books are included for some programs. Please refer to individual program sections to see if books are included for that particular program.

On-Site Orientation

Upon arrival students are given an on-site orientation where they are informed of academic schedules, safety information, detailed information on excursions and information on cell phones. These orientations are conducted by our resident directors, allowing students a chance to familiarize themselves with our directors even before they take their placement exams.

Housing

ISA programs offer the following housing options to students:
Homestay: Most ISA programs offer the option of homestay accommodations. Please refer to individual program sections to see if homestays are available for that particular program.
Residence halls: Dorms, residencias and pensiones are available at some of our sites. Each residence hall is different; please contact ISA with specific questions. Please refer to individual program sections to see if residence halls or similar options are available for that particular program.
Apartments: Some ISA programs offer the option of apartment-living. Please refer to individual program sections to see if apartments are available for that particular program.

Please contact ISA for information about alternative housing options.

Please note, housing is included on all ISA programs in the Pacific region, at an additional cost. There are a range of housing options and costs vary according to accommodation selected and session. Housing is included for approximately the first three months of a Master's Degree program. Additional costs may apply for students who wish to extend their housing through ISA or select a housing option that is only available for the full length of the program. Contact ISA for further details.

Resident Director

ISA's full-time resident directors assist students with all aspects of their living and university experiences abroad. Working 9:00am -8:00pm during the week, on-site directors arrange excursions, weekly meetings, cultural activities, and much more. Most program sites have more than one on-site director.

On-site ISA Office

Most program locations have an on-site ISA office with a full-time resident staff. The on-site offices offer students a source of security while abroad by serving as a common meeting place and resource center.

Computer and Internet Access

ISA students enjoy free computer and internet access at ISA on-site offices and/or computer labs at the host universities. The following on-site ISA offices also provide free wireless internet: Argentina - Buenos Aires, Belgium - Brussels, Brazil - Florianopolis, Chile - Valparaiso, Costa Rica - Heredia and San Jose, Czech Republic - Prague, Dominican Republic - Santiago, England - London, France - Paris, Italy - Rome and Florence, Morocco - Meknes, Peru - Cusco and Lima, South Africa - Cape Town, South Korea - Seoul and Spain - Barcelona, Bilbao, Granada, Madrid, Malaga, Salamanca, Santander, Sevilla and Valencia. Cultural Activities

In order to maximize cultural immersion, the ISA program staff develops unique cultural activities. These custom-designed activities invite students to experience the local color of their host city, while learning about the history and culture of their new surroundings. Speaking the native language with locals, tasting the regional cuisine, and partaking in the native traditions are just a few of the ways these cultural activities lead to full appreciation of the program city. Please note that cultural activities are not included in Master's Degree programs.

Excursions

Ground transportation, entrance fees, and guided tours are included on all ISA excursions. Hotel accommodations and breakfast are included on all overnight excursions.
Excursions are not included on Intensive Month, J-Term or Master's Degree programs. Although most other programs do include excursions, some may have no excursions, or optional excursions provided at an extra cost. Please refer to the individual session information for details.

Airport Reception

Transportation is provided from the airport for students who arrive during the ISA-designated pick-up times. Airport reception is not provided for J-Term or Intensive Month programs. Please contact your appropriate program manager for details.

Tutoring

Tutorial assistance is offered to participants who are enrolled in a language class during their ISA program; assistance is arranged by the on-site directors and should be scheduled in advance, and consists of a maximum of 1 hour per week.

Cellular Phone Advising

If a student desires a cell phone while abroad, some information regarding use and purchase of phones will be provided before departure. Once students arrive to their program destination, they will be provided with more detailed information on the variety of cell phones available during their on-site orientation. There are many cell phone providers available in the host country. ISA encourages program participants to research their options and choose the best provider to meet their needs.

Optional Costs

Extended Medical Insurance

Students can extend their medical insurance beyond their program start and end dates for $25 per week.
