Outside ScholarshipsMany US universities and study abroad offices offer scholarships to their students for study abroad. Please check with your home university and use these search engines to find even more great opportunities. In addition, the following is a list of scholarships available through outside organizations. Eligibility requirements vary based on field of study, host country, financial need and student background. Please refer to each scholarship's website for further details. Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship Program Recipients are awarded up to $5000 to defray the costs associated with studying abroad. Funded by the National Security Education Program (NSEP), these scholarships provide up to $20,000 to undergraduate students from the US to study abroad in areas of the world that are underrepresented in study abroad. The British Council lists funding and scholarship information for study in the United Kingdom. BUTEX North American Scholarships Eight $1000 scholarships are awarded each year to currently registered students at US universities who will study abroad at a BUTEX member institution in the UK. (All current ISA UK host universities are members). Foundation for Asian Pacific Education (ISA China, India and South Korea programs only) Fund for International Service Learning Fund for International Service Learning provides scholarships to students enrolled in an international service-learning program. (ISA ELAP programs only - see here.) Glimpse Correspondents Program Grants The Glimpse Foundation and The National Geographic Society are seeking talented writers, photographers, and filmmakers. Each selected participant will receive a $600 grant and will see their work published in Glimpse and National Geographic media. The Hispanic College Fund reaches out to Latino college students in need. One £1,000 scholarship is awarded each year to currently registered students at US universities who will study abroad for at least one semester at a AASAP/UK member institution. MTV has collaborated with YouthVentures to provide grants to young changemakers that aspire to create a new youth-led venture that benefits a community. The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) The National Italian American Foundation awards scholarships and grants to outstanding Italian-American students on the basis of academic merit. Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants Fifty $1,000 grants are awarded each year to help support undergraduates as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad. Ambassadorial scholarships offered through local Rotary clubs. UNCF offers an array of scholarship programs from the nation's largest minority education organization. |
