Students may choose between the following Program Terms:

Courses with Locals in Multiple Disciplines - Universidad de Belgrano (UB) - University of Belgrano

Students at the high advanced level of the Spanish language (5 or more semesters of college-level Spanish) will take courses with local students at the University of Belgrano. Students will have an academic orientation before making their final course selections at the University of Belgrano.

Students have the option of taking up to five classes from two general categories but must take at least one course with Argentines:

Category One: Classes with Argentine Students (Students must choose at least one course from this area) Students are able to select classes from the regular course listings of the University of Belgrano. These courses will be taken alongside Argentine students and are taught by Argentine faculty.

Category Two: Latin American Studies in Spanish (as listed under the Semester/Year 2 programs)
These courses are specifically designed for foreign students. The language of instruction is Spanish and classes are taken alongside international students.

Students who do not wish to enroll in at least one course from Category One must switch to the Latin American Studies program.

*Please be aware that some courses with Argentine students are offered only during specific semesters, and often change due to course schedule conflicts, enrollment, etc. While ISA makes every effort to maintain a current course list on the ISA website, course enrollment cannot be guaranteed until students arrive onsite. If you must take specific courses with locals for graduation, please contact your Site Specialist to check on the likelihood that they will be offered during your specific term abroad.

Students may also add an Intensive Month to a Semester/Year program. Contact the ISA office for further details.

Business & Latin American Studies- Universidad Argentina de la Empresa (UADE) - Universidad Argentina de la Empresa (UADE)

The Business and Latin American Studies program is designed for students at any level of Spanish specializing in business, finance, economics, marketing or human resources. The program is outlined to teach students about Latin American economic issues and Latin business operation strategies. The focus of the classes are on the skills necessary for facilitating business in Latin America, specifically on managing and leading in the Latin American Business world. The program has several on-site learning opportunities where students visit companies around Buenos Aires to have a first hand look of business operations in Argentina.


Students will take 4 required core courses and select one elective course from 3 elective options. The courses are taught in English by Universidad Argentina de la Empresa professors and students will be in class with other international students.

Students enrolling in Spanish Language will take a placement exam onsite to determine course eligibilty. Students who have not completed a college semester or quarter of Spanish language or the equivalent must choose Spanish as their elective.

This program is only offered during the spring semester.

Intensive Spanish Language - Universidad de Belgrano (UB) - University of Belgrano

This program is designed for students at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels of the Spanish language.

Spring students will take a total of 264 hours and have the opportunity to progress through 2 consecutive levels. Fall students will have the opportunity to progress through two consecutive levels of Spanish language, each level being worth 126 hours of instruction, totaling 252 hours for the semester. Both the Fall and Spring programs are open to all levels of Spanish speakers.

Students will participate in courses offered at University of Belgrano's language department that focus on Spanish grammar, conversation, and culture. Students will be in class with Americans and other international students.

All students must take a Spanish language placement exam upon arrival in Buenos Aires. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level, and will determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll.

Students who arrive in Argentina having completed less than one year of college-level Spanish will likely place into beginning level. Students who arrive in Argentina having completed one full year of college-level Spanish will likely place into the intermediate-level courses.

Gap students are also eligible for this program.

Latin American Studies - Universidad de Belgrano (UB) - University of Belgrano

The Latin American Studies program is designed for students at all levels of the Spanish language who have an interest in political, social, economic, and cultural aspects of Argentina. The courses in this program are taught in Spanish and English by University of Belgrano professors. Students with a high intermediate or advanced level of Spanish may choose to take any combination of courses listed. All classes are with American and other international students.

Students wishing to take one or more courses with locals should sign up for the Courses with Argentines program.

Gap students are also eligible for this program.

Business, Hospitality, Design & Courses with Locals- Universidad Argentina de la Empresa (UADE) - Universidad Argentina de la Empresa (UADE)

The Business, Hospitality, Design & Courses with Locals semester program is open to students at all language levels and offers Spanish language courses and a variety of courses with locals instructed in English and Spanish. Students who have not completed a semester/quarter of college-level Spanish or the equivalent must choose language as one of their courses.

Courses in English are primarily related to Business. Students who place into the advanced Spanish language level have the opportunity to enroll in courses with locals instructed in Spanish in a variety of disciplines, such as Design, Hospitality, Engineering, Business, and Social Sciences.

Please note that courses taken at the Argentine Institute of Gastronomy (IAG) require additional fees, and are located off UADE's campus.

Students enrolling in Spanish language courses will take a placement exam onsite to determine course eligibility.
