Semester / Trimester

Spanish Language & Latin American Studies -National University of Córdoba

The Semester 1 Spanish Language & Latin American Studies program is open to students at the intermediate Spanish language level or higher (2+ semesters/3+ quarters of completed college-level Spanish or the equivalent). The Semester 2 program is open to students at the advanced level or higher (4+ semesters/6-7+ quarters or the equivalent). This program is ideal for students who have an interest in Latin American and Argentine literature, art, politics, history, economics and culture. The courses in this program are instructed in Spanish by National University of Córdoba professors. All listed courses are with international students, and courses with locals may be available.

Semester 1 Students will participate in an intensive month of Spanish language courses prior to the beginning of the semester (96 additional hours of instruction).

All students must take a Spanish language placement exam upon arrival in Córdoba. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level, and will determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll.

Students will also be required to take a placement exam called the CELU upon prior to the start of semester courses at the National University of Córdoba. The CELU exam consists of a writing section where the student will listen to oral texts and present a written evaluation of them. The oral section will consist of reading texts and conversing with a professor about them, allowing the professors to evaluate your language ability so that they can confirm your level of Spanish is sufficiently advanced for the program.

Your performance on the placement exams will determine your eligibility to participate in courses. If, for any reason, you do not place into the required level of Spanish prior to the start of the semester, after the intensive month, your course selection will be limited.
