Housing Information

ISA Housing provides the opportunity for students to experience ascpects of the Australian lifestyle that are inaccessible to the average visitor to Australia. All ISA Housing options are either within walking distance to Host Universities or are conveniently located near public transit routes.

Housing is available on all ISA Programs in the Pacific Region, at an additional cost. There are a range of houising options and costs will vary according to host university, accommodation type, and session. Please review the pricing details within your chosen program session.

A Housing Commitment Fee of $1,000 must be paid by the Final Forms and Payment due date. This fee is nonrefundable after the payment due date and is applied to overall housing costs. The total housing cost will be billed 3-4 weeks prior to the program's departure, once a housing assignment has been allocated.

Semester Program Housing Options
Glenn College- On Campus, Full meal plan (La Trobe University): Placements are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis and CANNOT be guaranteed. Students are placed in fully furnished, single bedrooms with shared bathrooms. Co-ed with men and women living in adjacent rooms. Mandatory meal plan included. Common areas include large lounge, recreational rooms, indoor sport area (table tennis, pool), BBQ facilities, study rooms, library, and health sciences study room. Students are responsible for the cost of public transportation. Students will be living with other host univeristy students. Laundry facilities located in each building.

A $500 refundable deposit will be charged to students living in ISA arranged houisng. ISA may retain some, or all, of this deposit in the case of damage to property, or if utility usage exceeds the allotted monthly amount.

Menzies- On Campus, NO meal plan (La Trobe University):Placements are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis and CANNOT be guaranteed. Students are placed in fully furnsihed, self-catered, single bedrooms with shared bathrooms and kitchens. Co-ed with men and women living in adjacent rooms. Common rooms include kitchen facilities, library, Student Development Centre, Global Lounge, Modern Fitness Centre, BBQ areas, Health Sciences Centre, Personal Development Centre, Student Club Room, and meeting and study rooms. Kitchen supplies not included. Laundry facilities located in each building.

Urbanest- Off Campus, NO meal plan (University of Melbourne and La Trobe University) :Placements are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis and CANNOT be guaranteed. Students are placed in two-bedroom studio apartments consisting of two beds, seperated by a dividing wall/bookshelf. Studio features a stylish kitchen with modern appliances, wireless internet, air conditioning, and ensuite bathroom. The accommodation has a large social area on the ground floor with comfortable seating, a rooftop terrace with BBQ area with tables and benches, flat screen TV and games room, iMac stations, modern coin opperated laundry, and secure bike storage.

Located about an hour's trip via public transportation from La Trobe University and a 5-minute walk from Univeristy of Melbourne, this accommodation is in the heart of downtown Melbourne, and within walking distance of Melbourne's Victoria Markets. Students are responsible for the cost of public transportation. Students will be living with other host univeristy students.

Independent Housing
Students may opt to secure housing independently. Students who select this option will be responsible for their own housing during the program and will forgo any ISA assistance for housing matters.

Edge of the Outback Housing
Students will stay at a variety of accommodations based on the location of the traveling program, which are included in the cost ofthe Summer 1 program.

J-Term Housing
Students will be housed in a co-ed 10-bedroom shared apartment. Each apartment includes 10 individual rooms with a single bed, study desk, and a built-in wardrobe. The apartment comes fully furnished with a spacious lounge room, large kitchen, multiple bathrooms, and laundry facilities that are shared among all students living in the unit. All students enrolled in the program are guaranteed housing.

The experience of living in another culture will be both educational and rewarding so long as you stay open-minded and reasonable at all times. There are differences in culture and lifestyle between life in Australia and the U.S. Remember: the key to a positive experience is flexibility.
