Housing Information

Semester/Year Students
Housing is included on all ISA programs in the Pacific region, at an additional cost. There are a range of housing options and costs vary according to host university, accommodation selected and session. Please review the pricing details within your chosen program session.

A Housing Commitment Fee of $1,000 must be paid by the Final Forms and Payment due date. This fee is nonrefundable after the payment due date and is applied to overall housing costs. The total housing cost will be billed 3-4 weeks prior to the program's departure, once a housing assignment has been allocated.

ISA Housing provides the opportunity for students to experience aspects of the Australian lifestyle that are inaccessible to the average visitor of Australia. All ISA Housing options are either within walking distance or conveniently located to public transit routes.

On Campus, Full meal plan (La Trobe University):Placements are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis and CANNOT be guaranteed. Students are placed in fully furnished, single bedrooms with shared bathrooms. Co-ed with men and women living in adjacent rooms. Mandatory meal plan included. Common areas include large lounge, recreational rooms indoor sports area (table tennis, pool), BBQ facilities, study rooms, library, and health sciences study room. Students are responsible for the cost of public transportation. Students will be living with other host university students. Laundry facilities located in each building.

A $500 refundable security deposit will be charged to students living in ISA arranged housing. ISA may retain some, or all, of this deposit in the case of damage to property, or if utility usage exceeds the allotted monthly amount.

On Campus, NO meal plan (La Trobe University):Placements are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis and CANNOT be guaranteed. Students are placed in fully furnished, self-catered, single bedrooms with shared bathrooms and kitchens. Co-ed with men and women living in adjacent rooms. Common rooms include kitchen facilities, library, Student Development Centre, Global Lounge, Modern Fitness Centre, BBQ areas, Health Sciences Centre, Personal Development Centre, Student Club Room, and meeting and study rooms. Kitchen supplies not included. Laundry facilities located in each building.

Off Campus, NO meal plan (University of Melbourne and La Trobe University): Placements are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis and CANNOT be guaranteed. Students are placed in two bedroom studio apartments consisting of two beds, separated by a dividing wall/bookshelf. Studio features a stylish kitchen with modern appliances, wireless internet, air conditioning and ensuite bathroom. The accommodation has a large social area on the ground floor with comfortable seating, a rooftop terrace with BBQ, tables and benches, big screen TV and games room, iMac stations, modern coin operated laundry, and secure bike store.

Located about an hour trip via public transportation from La Trobe University and a 5 minute walk from University of Melbourne, this accomodation is in the heart of downtown Melbourne, and within walking distance of Melbourne?s Victoria Markets. Students are responsible for the cost of public transportation. Students will be living with other host university students.

Independent Housing
Students may opt to secure housing independently. Students who select this option will be responsible for their own housing during the program and will forgo any ISA assistance for housing matters.

Summer 1 Housing
Students will stay at a variety of accomodations based on the location of the traveling program, which are included in the cost of the Summer 1 program.

The experience of living in another culture will be both educational and rewarding so long as you stay open-minded and reasonable at all times. There are differences in culture and lifestyle between life in Australia and the U.S. Remember: the key to a positive experience is flexibility.
