Known affectionately as 'the Gong', Wollongong is an eclectic and vibrant coastal city with multiple influences. Very much a University town, the burgeoning arts and culture scene has seen Wollongong break away from its mining and industry heritage to become one of Australia's most liveable small cities. Located just over 50 miles south of Sydney and just a short drive to the mountains, Wollongong is known for its low-key atmosphere, 17 patrolled beaches, beautiful hinterland as well as cultural and adventure activities.

With around 200,000 residents, Wollongong is large enough to offer conveniences of the city, yet small enough to retain the friendly, relaxed atmosphere of a coastal community. Whether you're interested in doing as much as possible while you're here, or just living the good life outdoors, the city has something for everyone.
