Prior to their departure and on-site orientation, students will receive a detailed and extensive pre-departure online orientation which serves as a primer for their study abroad experience in Belgium. Although the on-site orientation will cover the nitty-gritty of life in Brussels, the online orientation allows students to read up on pertinent information before their arrival in Belgium. It will cover topics such as culture, housing, bugeting, cell phones, food, the university, and numerous other details. Of course, students are always welcome to contact the Belgium Site Specialist
with any questions.
Participants will fly into the main Brussels airport (BRU) where ISA resident staff will greet students before traveling with students to their housing. The staff provides a thorough orientation which includes information about academics, health and safety, housing, transportation, and money, as well as a tour of the city. You will also learn more about Belgian culture and history, as well as what to expect from daily life as an international student in Brussels. This orientation will provide you with the opportunity to ask questions and get acquainted with fellow program participants and directors.
