SummerStudents may choose between the following Program Terms: Culture, Portuguese Language & Economics - Universidade do Sul de Santa CatarinaThis Program offers students international economics and cultural studies courses taught in English and Portuguese. Course topics include studies on ethnicity and society and international political economy. In addition, all beginning-level students must enroll in one Portuguese language course. Students with intermediate and advanced levels of Portuguese may also select a single-credit Brazilian Culture course.
Intensive Portuguese Language - Universidade do Sul de Santa CatarinaDuring this program, students have the opportunity to obtain intensive training in Portuguese. This program is open to beginning, intermediate and advanced students. Beginning and intermediate students can complete 144 hours of Portuguese-language coursework, while advanced students can complete 126 hours of Portuguese-language coursework. Coursework is completed in grammar, conversation, written expression and culture. All courses are instructed in Portuguese. During this 7-week program students will enroll in two or three courses (depending on language level) during the first 5 weeks to complete between 108-126 hours of coursework. Following this, all students will enroll in a 2-week long intermediate or advanced-level Portuguese conversation course to complete an additional 18 hours of coursework. Students enroll in the following courses based on their language level. Please note that for intermediate students, enrollment in either Portuguese Language & Culture Lab OR Brazilian Culture II is dependent on your language level. Intermediate Students Advanced Students
