The three-week Spanish Language and Chilean Culture J-Term program accommodates students at the beginning, intermediate and advanced Spanish language levels who hold a 2.5 GPA. Students will enroll in Spanish Grammar and Chilean Culture & Conversation for a total of 70 hours of instruction. The course is divided into two modules of Spanish Grammar, and Chilean Culture and Conversation consisting of 35 hours of instruction each. All courses are taught by Chilean professors and are taken with ISA and other international students. Students at the advanced language level who wish to choose from a more extensive course list may want to consider the January Intensive Month program, also at the PUCV.

All classes are taken with international students and are taught by Chilean professors. Please note that the J-Term program price does not include airport pick-up, drop-off, or excursions.

Minimum GPA

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.

Minimum Admissions Prerequisites

There is no language prerequisite for this program.

For beginning, intermediate and advanced level Spanish speakers. All students must take a language placement exam upon arrival in Valparaiso. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level, and will determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll. Students who arrive in Chile having completed one full year of college-level Spanish will likely place into intermediate level courses. Students who arrive in Chile having completed two years of college-level Spanish will likely place into the advanced level courses.
