Students may choose from the following Academic Program options:
There are two year programs available through the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaiso. There is one year program available at the Adolfo Ibáñez University. Students take courses at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso and at the Adolfo Ibáñez University with local and international students, and can choose from a wide variety of courses offered by the nniversities in areas such as language, culture, history, business, art, and science. Students will have an academic orientation before making their final course selections at each university.
Semester programs in Valparaíso/Viña del Mar offer courses in English and at all language levels.
At the Pontifical Catholic University students may choose among courses in English or Spanish with international students, or with locals in Spanish only.
At the Adolfo Ibáñez University students may choose a language course, courses in English with international students, or courses in Spanish with locals.
There is one program available during the summer: Spanish Language & Chilean Culture. The Language & Culture program is open to intermediate and advanced level students only, and courses are taught in Spanish. Students will be in class with other international students.
The J-Term (January Term) program is designed for students who want to focus on language acquisition. The three-week Spanish Language & Chilean Culture J-Term program accommodates students at the intermediate and advanced Spanish language levels who hold a 2.5 GPA. All courses are taught by Chilean professors and are taken with ISA and other international students. Students at the advanced language level who wish to choose from a more extensive course list may want to consider the January Intensive Month program, also at the PUCV.

The Intensive Month program is designed for students who want to focus on language acquisition. The January session offers intermediate and advanced level courses including The February session offers beginning, intermediate and advanced level courses. All classes are taken with international students and are taught by Chilean professors.

ISA Custom Programs are developed in partnership with U.S. universities to offer students unique course options. Cultural activities and excursions, program dates and duration, and academics vary by program. Studying abroad with U.S. university students and faculty fosters a cohesive group dynamic with additional support of ISA staff in the U.S. and abroad.
There are two back to back programs in Chile. Students may choose to take back to back Summer 1 and 2 programs at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaiso (PUCV), or they may take back to back Summer 1 and 3 programs, the former at the PUCV and the latter at the University of Adolfo Ibáñez. All classes are taken with other international students.
