Founded in 1985, the Universidad Latina - Heredia, formerly known as the UICR, is now considered to be one of the most prestigious universities in Costa Rica. The school's undergraduate and graduate programs were fully accredited in 1990. Today, the school offers undergraduate and graduate degrees covering a wide area of practical sciences, education, and business related fields. The Universidad also has a metropolitan campus in the capital city of San José, located 15-30 minutes by bus or car away from the central campus in Heredia.
The Universidad Latina strives to make education accessible to both the traditional full-time student and the non-traditional working student. Generous scholarship and finance programs make undergraduate education easily available to most motivated students. The university's enrollment is currently growing at a rate of about twenty percent a year, a formidable testimony of the school's value and quality.
