This program is open to students at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels of Spanish proficiency. It is designed for students wishing to expand their knowledge of health care practices abroad while improving their Spanish.
This program provides students with the opportunity to gain both classroom and practical, hands-on communication experience. Students may also enroll in courses offered in any of the courses offered in the Spanish Language, Liberal Arts & Environmental Studies program to complete their total enrollment. A placement exam will be taken to determine language level.
During the fall, students can select to add an intensive month of Spanish prior to the beginning of the program as a packaged option. Students who wish to do so should select the Fall 4A option. Throughout the Winter 4 or Fall 4B programs students may participate in up to three 80-hour Spanish language courses and must take at least one Health Care elective course instructed in English. During the Fall 4A program students will take the same, but will also enroll in one additional intensive Spanish course.
Language courses are held in the morning while elective courses are held in the afternoon. There may be weekend or afternoon field trips associated with health care courses.
Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.
