Prague rests along the banks of the Vltava River, and has been the political, cultural, and economic hot-spot of Central and Eastern Europe for over 1000 years. Since 1992, Prague has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and for good reason: The city is an unaltered, hands-on museum, full of famous theatres and opera houses, open parks with political protest history, and centuries-old buildings converted into late-night discothèques. The galling years of communist rule linger in the minds of Czechs, and striking up conversation on the subject brings out a history and culture lesson that could only be learned from the source itself.

While you study abroad in Prague you can learn Czech and take a wide variety of classes in English at one of two excellent colleges in Prague: Charles University or the University of Economics. During your free time, explore any number of the beautiful, interesting or delicious sites around the city.

Prague boasts a burgeoning scene of rock and roll and live jazz as well as classical concerts for you to enjoy. Gaze in awe as you take in a showing of Mozart's Don Giovanni, watched in the original theatre where the opera premiered some 200 years ago. Take tours of the Prague Castle, Franz Kafka's house or any one of the many museums that dot the city. Chow down on delicious Czech goulash, spicy sausage from the street vendor, or treat yourself to a traditional Czech dinner of fried cheese and cherry sauce dumplings. Relax with classmates in beautiful gardens or take a day trip to countryside wineries or castles.
