ISA Housing provides the opportunity for students to experience aspects of the British student lifestyle that are inaccessible to the average visitor of England. All dorms are either within a quick walking distance to the university, or are conveniently located near public transit routes relative to the university. Travel times to the university vary but generally range between 15 and 30 minutes. The experience of living in another culture will be both educational and rewarding so long as you stay open-minded and reasonable at all times. There are differences in culture and lifestyle between life in England and the U.S. Remember: the key to a positive experience is flexibility. With this in mind, you can become a true Brit!
ISA students live in residence halls with British and other international students. The arranged dorm-style accommodation is on or very near the campus and includes a cafeteria-style meal plan. Students will get approximately fourteen meals per week offered in the centrally located dining areas of each hall.
Most rooms are single bedrooms with shared bathrooms and each hall has facilities such as a kitchen, common room, and laundry room. Shops, a bank, a post office, and a bus route are all within walking distance as well.
Please note that housing in a graduate dormitory for Master's Degree students is only available for the full length of the program and will therefore result in an additional cost. Contact ISA for further details.
A $425 refundable housing deposit will be charged to students living in the ISA Reading Dorms.
ISA Apartment for Master's Degree Students:
The ISA Apartment is included for approximately the first three months of a Master's Degree program. This option is not currently available for undergraduate students. Students living in the apartments will be placed with other ISA students and are assigned on a first-come/first-serve basis. Rent is included in the program price. Students are placed in fully furnished, centrally located housing that is close to public transit routes or the university. Meals and laundry service are not included. Accommodations typically house 4-6 ISA students, therefore a minimum number of students must select this option in order for it to be available. If the minimum number is not met, students that select the ISA Apartment housing option will be alerted immediately and may select independent housing or switch to a graduate dormitory, which is only available for the full length of the program and will therefore result in an additional cost. Contact ISA for further details.
A $500 refundable security deposit will be charged to students living in ISA arranged housing. ISA may retain some, or all, of this deposit in the case of damage to property, or if utility usage exceeds the allotted monthly amount.
Students may opt to secure housing independently. Students who select this option receive a discount equal to the housing portion of the program price.
