Institut Catholique de Paris
Fall 2 2017 (Sep 17, 2017 to Dec 23, 2017)
Catalog Code: IPRF1317
This program offers students the opportunity to hone their knowledge of French language and culture by taking a mixture of French language courses and culture and civilization courses at the Institut Catholique de Paris. The program is available to students from all language backgrounds, from the true beginning (débutant) to the superior (supérieur) language levels. Classes are comprised of international students from every corner of the world, providing students with unique perspectives and environments from which to learn. All courses are taught by host university faculty at the Institut Catholique de Paris in its Institut de Langue et de Culture Française (ILCF).
French Language Courses:
Through a pre-departure online placement exam, students will be placed into the most appropriate French language course to foster their linguistic growth. Depending on the individual language placement, students may take French language/grammar courses, phonetics, spoken French, written French, and more.
Culture and Civilization Courses:
- Culture and civilization courses taught in French and English are available through this program and typically cover topics including art, theater, literature, communications, literature, gastronomy, and politics.
- Culture and civilization courses in French are only available to students at the High Beginning (A2-1) level and above.
- Students who place into the True Beginning (A1-1) or Beginning (A1-2) levels will primarily take French language. These students may then take one class in English.
- Students who place into the High Beginning (A2-1) or Low Intermediate (A2-2) must take a French language course. Depending on the number of hours of French language taken, they can then take up to three French culture and civilization courses or two English courses.
Students may add an intensive month session as a preface to the spring programs at the Institut Catholique de Paris.
Gap students, 18 years old and older, are also eligible for this program.
