ParisAcademic Programs in ParisStudents may choose from the following Academic Program options: Academic YearDuring the Academic Year program, students may take beginning, intermediate, and advanced French language and culture classes at the Catholic University of Paris (Catho), the Sorbonne, or the American Business School of Paris (ABSP). For students with an intermediate level of French, the Catho and the Sorbonne offer Culture and Civilization courses such as art, theater, literature, communications, history, and culture taught in French. Students learn in an international setting with students from all over the world. Fluent or nearly fluent French speakers may take up to two of their courses per semester with local French students in a wide range of course options. The American Business School of Paris offers a unique opportunity to learn global business, management, marketing, and humanities courses in a classroom comprised of students from all over the world. All courses, with the exception of French language courses, are taught in English by a diverse staff of international professors and guest lecturers. Semester / TrimesterDuring the Semester/trimester program, students may take beginning and intermediate French language and culture classes at the Catholic University of Paris (Catho), the Sorbonne, or the American Business School of Paris (ABSP). Intermediate and advanced level courses are taught in French at the Catho and the Sorbonne in a wide range of arts and humanities subjects. Fluent or nearly fluent French speakers may take up to two of their courses with native French-speaking students. Students at the American Business School of Paris can select from a wide variety of courses taught in English with students from all over the world. Course subjects include global business, management, economics, marketing and humanities and are taught by a diverse staff of international professors and guest lecturers. SummerDuring the summer, three types of academic programs are available in Paris. The first, the Paris Fine Arts program, is a unique five-week opportunity to discover Paris through the arts and language. This program is a great match for the student who seeks a study abroad experience in France with art courses taught in English. French language studies, taught in French, are also available but not mandatory. Art classes, designed specifically for the Fine Arts program, are taken with other students participating in the program. French classes are taken with other international students. The American Business School summer session offers international business and humanities courses taught in English. Participants take courses in an international classroom with students from France and all over the world. French language courses at all levels are also available, but not mandatory. The French Language summer session, which takes place at the Catholic University of Paris, offers French courses at all language levels. Beginning and intermediate level courses cover the fundamentals of French, while high intermediate and higher levels offer increasingly advanced areas of language study such as Business French, Written French, Perfecting Language Skills, and Teaching French as a Foreign Language. Participants are in the classroom with other international students. Intensive MonthThe intensive month session is offered at the beginning, intermediate, advanced, and superior language levels only. Taken at the Catholic University of Paris, the intensive French language class concentrates on grammatical structures and communication skills. Participants are in the classroom with American and other international students. The intensive month may be completed as an individual program, or as a precursor to the Year and Semester programs.
