Orientation Information

Pre-Departure Orientation

Prior to their departure and on-site orientation, students will be given access to a lengthy and detailed pre-departure online orientation which serves as a primer for their study abroad experience in France. Although the on-site orientation will cover the nitty-gritty of life in France, the online orientation allows students to read up on pertinent information before their arrival in Paris. The orientation covers academics, culture, gender relations, useful phrases, food, housing, the university, ISA facilities, money matters, visas, and numerous other details that students also learn about during their on-site orientation. Of course, students are always welcome to contact the Paris Site Specialist with any questions.

On-Site Orientation

Participants will fly into Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). They are met by the resident staff and taken to their housing location (airport reception and transfer is not included in Intensive Month and J-Term programs). At the airport the ISA staff will provide students with a welcome pack and a brief introduction to the Paris transportation system.

During the mandatory orientation meeting the day after arrival, the staff will discuss the French lifestyle and culture, while also letting students know what to expect with regards to housing and adjusting to life in Paris. Resident staff will also introduce students to the academic portion of the program, including reviewing course registration and academic expectations.
