Housing Information

ISA Housing provide the opportunity for students to experience aspects of the Berlin lifestyle that are inaccessible to the average visitor of Germany.

The experience of living in another culture will be both educational and rewarding so long as you stay open-minded and reasonable. There are differences in culture and lifestyle between life in Germany and the U.S. that will quickly become apparent upon your arrival. Remember: the key to a positive experience is flexibility!

Apartment
This housing option is available for all ISA Berlin students. Apartments are assigned on a first-come/first-serve basis, and availability is limited. The apartments are located about 50 minutes by public transportation from the university and about 20 minutes from Berlin's city center. The apartments are single-occupancy studio apartments, each one with one living room/bedroom, a bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. Cable internet is available in all apartments. Wifi access is available in all common areas on the ground floor. The kitchen includes a fridge, 2 stovetops, and an electric kettle. Pillows, blankets, and sheets are also provided. There is an on-site laundry room with token-operated washers and dryers.

Homestay
This housing option is available for all ISA Berlin students. The ISA Berlin programs include homestays with German families in various neighborhoods around the the city of Berlin. Each homestay has been carefully selected by resident staff in order to accommodate students' specific needs and to ensure a comfortable living situation. The majority of host families only speak German, while some speak both German and English. A typical homestay includes a private bedroom with linen, a desk, and a place for clothing and personal items. Daily breakfast and one additional meal are included in the homestay option.

*Homestays cannot be guaranteed over winter break for academic-year students.

Dorm
This housing option is available for ISA Berlin J-Term and Summer students only. Dorms are assigned on a first-come/first-serve basis, and availability is limited. The dorms are located about 30 minutes by public transport from the university. The dorms are single bedrooms, with shared bathrooms and kitchens. Pillows, blankets, and sheets are provided. There is an on-site laundry room with token-operated washers and dryers. Please note that there is no internet access available in the dorms. Wireless internet can be purchased at a nearby shop.

*A 100 Euro security deposit must be paid upon move-in for students living in the dorm option.

Independent Housing
You may opt to secure housing independently. If you select this option, you will receive a discount equal to the housing portion of the program price. By choosing to opt out of the program's arranged housing, you are solely responsible for researching, reserving, and paying for all fees, deposits, and paying rent directly to the housing facility you choose.
