Hyderabad is one of India's most dynamic cities, sitting at the crossroads of old and new, north and south, Hindu and Muslim. With a booming population of nearly 7 million people, this IT hub is at the center of India's technology revolution, earning it the nickname "Cyberabad".

This new, IT-focused, population lives alongside the traditional Hyderabad of the opulent Nizams. Founded just under 500 years ago in 1591 by Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, the city contains some of India's most treasured historic sites, such as the Charminar and Golcanda Fort.

The city has long had a large Muslim population living harmoniously alongside their Hindu neighbors. This has contributed to a unique synergetic culture in the city and even a distinct dialect of Hyderabadi Urdu which is spoken alongside Telugu, Hindi, English and other regional Indian languages. Hyderabad's location at the crossroads of the subcontinent lends it influences from both North and South Indian culture and cuisine while making it the ideal home base for exploring this incredible country.
