Liberal Arts, Business & Irish Studies -National University of Ireland, Galway
The Liberal Arts, Business & Irish Studies program is offered through the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUI Galway). This program offers students a wide variety of courses in many fields of study, including the Arts, Social Sciences, Celtic Studies, Business, Public Policy, and Law. Popular subject areas include Irish Studies, English, and History. Of particular note is NUI Galway's Literacy and Learning in the Community Service Learning course and its ALIVE volunteer program.
While students in this program take a majority of their courses from the Liberal Arts, Business & Irish Studies program, they may also select 1 course from the Sciences, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) program at no additional charge.
Courses are taught by NUI Galway faculty and ISA students enroll directly with local and international students. All courses are taught in English.
Students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.00.
Minimum Admissions Prerequisites
There is no language prerequisite for this program.
Students must include with the standard ISA application:
- A letter of recommendation from an academic source. The letter must be signed and written on university letterhead.
- A letter of intent.
- A list of two academic references (name, title and contact information of a professor, TA or advisor).
Students must have completed the first semester of their sophomore year at a 4-year university at time of application. Some exceptions may apply, please contact the Program Manager for more information.
Courses and course hours of instruction are subject to change.
Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students' home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.
ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits are converted to semester credits/quarter units differently among U.S. universities. Students should confirm the conversion scale used at their home university when determining credit transfer.
Please reference fall and spring course lists as not all courses are taught during both semesters.
Please note that some courses with locals have recommended prerequisite courses. It is the student's responsibility to consult any recommended prerequisites prior to enrolling in their course.
