Student Visa and Embassy InformationAll students are required to have a passport. The demand for passports tends to be heaviest between January and August. However, backups and delays can occur at any time of the year due to various reasons and even for "expedited service," so be sure to apply as early as possible- several months in advance. American and Canadian citizens do not need a student visa to study in Ireland. However, all students from outside the EU who are staying in Ireland for more than 90 days must register with the local Garda National Immigration Bureau within 7 days of arrival in Ireland. In order to register, students must present their passport, student ID card, acceptance letter from their host institution, proof of residence, evidence of financial support, 300 euro processing fee (payable by credit/debit card only), and proof of medical insurance. If you are not a U.S. citizen, you will need to check with your local embassy or consulate to verify entry requirements for Ireland. Please check with ISA/Interstudy if you are unsure about any visa/document requirements. Note: Embassy and consulate contact information is subject to change without notice. Please refer to the website of the embassy or consulate to verify information.
