Students may choose between the following Program Terms:

Business, Hospitality & Studio Art - Florence University of the Arts and Apicius International School of Hospitality

The Florence summer program options allow students with little or no experience in the Italian language to choose from several courses in taught in English in a wide variety of subjects such as: Advertising, Art History, Contemporary Italian Studies, Digital Media, Environmental Studies, Fashion Design, Food & Culture, History, Hospitality, Italian Language, Journalism, Literature, Marketing, Management, Nutrition, Photography, Political Science, Sport Science and Studio Art.

Courses will be taught by local and international faculty. Classmates are international students, the majority of whom are North American.

Upon program completion, students will receive a transcript issued directly from the Florence University of the Arts (FUA). Students requiring a U.S. transcript will have the option to request a supplemental transcript from the University of South Florida (USF), who serves as the U.S. School of Record for ISA programs held at the FUA/APICIUS. Gap students are also eligible for this program.

Experiential Learning in Hospitality, Arts & Culture - Florence University of the Arts and Apicius International School of Hospitality

The Florence Experiential Learning summer program allows students with little or no experience in the Italian language gain real-world experience in the following fields:

  • Fashion Retail Management
  • Gallery and Exhibition Curating
  • Restaurant Management
  • Italian Culture
Courses will be taught by local and international faculty. Classmates are international students, the majority of whom are North American.

In addition to regular lecture hours, students will be involved in learning by doing through real projects and integration with the local population and territory in order to remove cultural and learning barriers as well as to develop a strong likelihood for success in life.

The experiential learning hours are fully supervised by instructors who track students step by step during their learning experience, monitor and advise according to student needs, and support student initiative. This unique learning model allows students to benefit from an all-encompassing educational experience based on theory and practice in real enterprises, learning of comprehensive operational processes, problem-solving, leadership, and management.

This innovative teaching method guarantees successful results and the accomplishment of learning objectives and outcomes for all students. Lectures are not separated from practice-based teaching.
