**The American University of Rome is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to award associates and bachelor's degrees. Effective March 13, 2008, the AUR is also a candidate for accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and has met each of their fourteen accreditation standards.
