Orientation Information

Prior to their departure and on-site orientation, students will receive a lengthy and detailed pre-departure orientation handbook which serves as a primer for their study abroad experience in Jordan. This handbook is designed to be used in conjunction with the Online Orientation in the Student Portal. Although the on-site orientation will cover the nitty-gritty of life in Jordan, the handbook allows students to read up on pertinent information before their arrival in Amman. The handbook covers academics, culture, gender relations, useful phrases, food, housing, the university, ISA facilities, money matters, visas and numerous other details that students also learn about during their on-site orientation. Of course, students are always welcome to contact the Jordan Site Specialist with any questions.Participants will fly into Amman's Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) where ISA resident staff will greet students before traveling with students to their housing. As part of their orientation, students will receive an introduction to Jordanian society and culture, as well as take a tour of the city. Resident staff will also introduce students to the academic portion of the program, including reviewing students' course selections and helping them to prepare for the placement exam if they are taking an Arabic language course.
