Guanajuato, declared a "World Heritage Site" by UNESCO, was the most important mining center in Mexico during the colonial period. The city still maintains its colonial charm with cobblestone streets and historic buildings that are relatively untouched by modern construction. From Guanajuato, students will travel to nearby San Miguel de Allende, a charming city of artists and writers that glows with beautiful mansions and churches. Students will visit El Escondido, the nearby thermal springs, as part of the San Miguel de Allende excursion.
