AUT University

 

The Auckland University of Technology (AUT) has degrees in the arts, business, communication, education, law, and many other areas, focusing on practical, hands-on education. The university has developed a reputation for excelling in Maori cultural studies, media studies, and hospitality and tourism, as well as a top university for international students seeking a close-knit community in a thriving Pacific city. Established in 2000, AUT has grown to be one of the four largest universities in New Zealand. In its short history, the university has graduated 23,000 students from its graduate and undergraduate programs. AUT University is New Zealand's most contemporary university, with innovative approaches to teaching, learning, and research. AUT University is outward-looking, developing and adapting to the social, economic, and technological realities which shape the world today.

AUT has two well-positioned campuses. City Campus in the center of Auckland, and North Shore Campus across the Auckland Harbor Bridge. Auckland is New Zealand's largest and most cosmopolitan city with a population of 1.4 million. The urban area is twice the size of London and offers entertainment, nightlife, and shopping. The temperate climate encourages an outdoor lifestyle and there is easy access to surf beaches, ski fields and mountains.

Study Abroad students are encouraged to take classes from Te Ara Poutama to gain an understanding of New Zealand Culture. Courses such as Te Ara Pou Leadership and Introduction to Culture and Society are favorites for study abroad students. Part-time internships, in most fields, are also available for academic credit during a semester abroad (at an additional fee).

AUT is recognized by the Ministry of Education, New Zealand. AUT was ranked in the top 51-100 institution in the world in the 2014 Accounting and Finance QS World University Rankings by Subject.

AUT Sponsored Scholarship: AUT supports three ISA study abroad students with three $1,000 NZD awards each year. The award is credited to the student's overall program balance with ISA.

For over 100 years, the University has had a presence on what is now the City Campus. Located in the heart of Auckland, the campus is accessible to the cultural and commercial amenities of the country's largest city, while harbour views and nearby parks add to its attractiveness. The City Campus provides a full range of amenities, including cafés, health services, libraries, childcare facilities, and a recreation centre. Historically significant buildings include Old Government House, the Clock Tower, and University House (once a synagogue).
