

Belfast is considered to be one of the next big up-and-coming cities of Western Europe. The city is developing a name for itself as a top-notch tourist destination as international tourism has been consistenly growing over the last few years. In 2012 the city celebrated a major milestone- the 100th anniversary of the Titanic, which was constructed in the famous Belfast shipping yards.
From the Titanic Quarter at the harbor to Queen's Quarter in the south of the city, Belfast is filled with colorful and eclectic neighborhoods. ISA students will live in Queen's Quarter, where they will have the opportunity to surround themselves among Irish and international students alike. This area is filled with restaurants & pubs and plays home to some major arts and culture festivals.
Students studying in Belfast will never run short on fun activities to take part in during their free time. Within the city, there are great opportunities to cycle, hike and kayak or canoe. In the areas surrounding Belfast, students can explore the beautiful and lush Irish countryside and take part in activities such as horseback riding, surfing, hiking and more.

Belfast has a temperate climate with a year round average temperature of 50ºF. In the winter, the temperature rarely dips below freezing (32ºF) and the summer highs can reach around 75ºF occasionally. The weather can be unpredictable at all times of year and locals like to joke that Northern Ireland goes through 4 seasons in a day. One should always be prepared with sweaters and rain jackets as the island can receive heavy rain any time of year.
