In 2012 the city celebrated a major milestone- the 100th anniversary of the Titanic, which was constructed in the famous Belfast shipping yards.

In the areas surrounding Belfast, students can explore the beautiful and lush Irish countryside and take part in activities such as horseback riding, surfing, hiking and more.

Belfast has a temperate climate with a year round average temperature of 50ºF. In the winter, the temperature rarely dips below freezing (32ºF) and the summer highs can reach around 75ºF occasionally. The weather can be unpredictable at all times of year and locals like to joke that Northern Ireland goes through 4 seasons in a day. One should always be prepared with sweaters and rain jackets as the island can receive heavy rain any time of year.
