Iquitos (Amazon Jungle)
Iquitos is the largest city in the world that cannot be accessed by road. ISA students will fly into the city of Iquitos, and take a bus to the city of Nauta, where they will board a boat and head to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. There the activities may include working with the animals at the Manatee Rescue Center and learning what CREA is doing to educate the local community regarding the conservation and animal protection. Students have the opportunity to learn about eco-tourism and how the Pacaya Samiria Lodge works hand in hand with the San Jorge community by helping them rescue the Kukama language and traditions, as well as the weaving techniques using natural dyes and chambira palm tree threads.
