I.- SUMMARY

A theoretical-practical course which covers the fundamentals of business, including the
environments of business, entrepreneurship, the business organization, marketing, human resources management and business ethics and social responsibility. The course also provides a key foundation for other business management courses.

II.- SKILLS

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to conceptualize a business model, reflect upon and analyze a variety of markets, creatively visualize business opportunities, synthesize key macro and micro variables of business environments and link business activities with ethics and social responsibility.

III.- METHODOLOGY

The course is developed in 56 class hours (50% theoretical and 50% practical) over
14 weeks. Because this is an introductory course, an inductive methodology is used in order to develop students' proactivity within the market context, providing access to relevant information and developing analytical and reflective skills. Activities are designed to activate prior knowledge and generate new knowledge, using
cooperative and dynamic activities to reach learning goals.

UNDERSTANDING THE CONTEMPORARY BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT
Concepts of business and profit. World
economic systems. Free market, supply
and demand. Types of competition.
Business ethics.

Analyze the concepts of business and profit.
Identify and describe economic systems.
Describe the relationship between local and international business. Presentation of a local business' activities, its market, clients and
sales. Presentation of a free market case-study.

VI.- FINAL PROJECT
The Project will be developed in groups, according to the indications given by the teacher.
Individual projects will not be accepted under any circumstances.
The Project involves developing a Business Plan for an idea that is mutually agreed upon
by the group members. The structure of the Project will be indicated by the teacher in
advance.
