Students may choose between the following Program Terms:

Courses with Locals in Multiple Disciplines - University of Glasgow - University of Glasgow

As an ISA student at the University of Glasgow, you will have access to courses within all four Colleges: Arts; Medical, and Life Sciences; Science and Engineering; and Social Sciences. In addition, you may study in one of Glasgow's specialist partner institutions, the Glasgow School of Art or the National (Bag)Piping Centre, or take specialty courses such as Functional Anatomy for Pre-Med/Pre Health Students, Service Learning, and Medical Humanities.

Special Courses Just for Study Abroad Students:

Service-Learning (Fall semester only): Perfect for students who want to combine academics with voluntary work in the community, this course option is a great way to gain hands on experience in public policy. Students will enroll in one course (Service in the Community) and complete an 8 week placement, 6 hours a week, at a welfare agency in Glasgow. Past placements include: caring for the elderly, assisting in local classrooms, helping the disadvantaged, and advocating for asylum seekers. Students looking to do this course must successfully pass a background check and obtain a Tier 4 Visa.

Functional Anatomy for Pre-Med/Pre-Health Students: This very special course is aimed at Pre-Med or Pre-Health students intending to apply to medical school in the USA. Designed to give future applicants an edge over their peers, this course goes over such concepts as medical terminology, concepts of regional anatomy, and basic radiology. Students wishing to participate in this prestigious program must be going into the junior year of study and have a 3.40 GPA from their home university.

Glasgow School of Art- Studio Art Program for Study Abroad Students: Study abroad students have the opportunity to take one or two classes with the Glasgow School of Art. Subjects typically include: Black and White Photography, Drawing into Painting, and Figurative Sculpture.

Bagpipes: History, Repertoire and Performance: Students can take a full semester course in bagpiping for academic credit. Students are taught bagpipes in individual and group lessons and take a historical survey of the bagpipe that places it within its social context.
