During the Summer 1 program at the University of Glasgow, students can choose between taking a Physics or Math track.
The International Physics Summer School consists of two consecutive 4-week modules with a laboratory component. It is an intensive course that introduces fundamental concepts of physics in the areas of dynamics and relativity, waves and sound, thermal dynamics (Module 1), as well as geometrical & wave optics, electromagnetism and quantum phenomena (Module 2).
Mathematics students will take three consecutive courses covering linear algebra, differential equations, and a cultural component covering the city of Glasgow and the origins of the modern world.
Students cannot mix both programs and must select one track only.

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.00.
Minimum Admissions Prerequisites
There is no language prerequisite for this program.
Students must have at least a sophomore standing (second-year) at their home university at the time of participation.
Students interested in the Physics track should have a GPA of at least 2.8 in physics and have completed two sequential courses of single variable calculus with a minimum grade of a C. They should also have competence in basic calculus as well as algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
