Students may choose between the following Program Terms:

Design & Visual Arts - Universitat Pompeu Fabra

This program is ideal for students with a background in design, or for students with little design experience, but who have an interest in taking graphic design or visual arts courses in English. Additionally, this program allows students to enroll in a Spanish language course.

Track A
Students without a background in design will be required to take the three mandatory graphic design courses and can round out their enrollment with either one other design and visual art course option, or a Spanish language course.

Track B
Students with a background in design have the option of selecting four courses from the graphic design and visual arts course offering list, or they may choose to take three courses from this list, along with a Spanish language class.

Any student who chooses to enroll in a Spanish language course will be required to take an official placement exam online prior to arrival in Barcelona.

*Students participating in the Design & Visual Arts program will take courses at the UPF ELISAVA Barcelona School of Design and Engineering. Please reach out to your ISA site specialist with any questions.

International Studies, Business & Culture - Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona

Students at any language level will be eligible to take courses at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB). The UAB offers a wide variety of economics and business courses as well as courses in culture, art and history. Courses are taught in Spanish and English at the Sant Pau campus, located in the city center, not far from the Sagrada Familia. Courses are also taught at the Eixample campus, less than a 10 minute commute from the ISA office. Courses are instructed by university faculty, and ISA students attend class with other international students.

Tourism, Hospitality Management & Business - Universitat de Barcelona

This program is for students who would like to take courses in the fields of Tourism, Hospitality Management, and/or Business. There are a variety of courses both taught in English and Spanish. Students who are non-native Spanish speakers will enroll in a required Spanish Language Course and an additional 90-180 contact hours (12-18 ECTS Credits) of instruction from any of the three tracks: Tourism, Hospitality Management, or Business. All classes are taken at the Universitat de Barcelona CETT Campus with International and Local Students.

Hispanic Studies - Universitat de Barcelona

This program is for Spanish students who would like to take a grammar and conversation course as well as a variety of Hispanic Studies culture classes. Students will take the required Spanish Grammar and an additional 90-135 hours of instruction of culture courses. All classes are taken at the Universidad de Barcelona with American and other international students.

Spanish Language, Liberal Arts & Business - Universitat Pompeu Fabra

This program accommodates students of various levels of Spanish proficiency who would like to take Spanish language in addition to a variety of elective courses. All language courses are taken at the Pompeu Fabra University with international and local students. The culture courses may have some Spanish students and international students. Students will also be allowed to take courses with Spaniards on a limited basis, including courses taught in English. Students must have at least junior standing (four semesters completed) at the time of participation.

Please note that students enrolled in UPF programs will not be required to enroll in Spanish language as one of their courses. However, it is strongly encouraged that students enroll in language in order to fully immerse themselves in the language and culture of the area.

*If you are interested in courses regarding STEM or Global Health please reach out to the Barcelona Site Specialist. There is a possibility to "add-on" a few courses from either offer pending scheduling and enrollment.
