This program accommodates students of various levels of Spanish proficiency who would like to take Spanish language in addition to a variety of elective courses. All language courses are taken at the Pompeu Fabra University with international students. The culture courses may have some Spanish students and international students. Students will also be allowed to take courses with Spaniards on a limited basis, including courses taught in English. Students must have at least junior standing (four semesters completed) and 60 credits completed at the time of participation.
Please note that students enrolled in UPF programs will not be required to enroll in Spanish language as one of their courses. However, it is strongly encouraged that students enroll in language in order to fully immerse themselves in the language and culture of the area.

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.00.
Minimum Admissions Prerequisites
There is no language prerequisite for this program.
This program is for beginning, high beginning, intermediate, advanced, and superior level Spanish speakers. Students must have at least junior standing (4 semesters completed) at the time of participation. Those who have junior standing by credit hours only, but have not completed four semesters at the time of participation, will not be accepted. All students must take a Spanish language placement exam upon arrival in Barcelona. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level, and will determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll. Students who arrive in Spain having completed one full year of college-level Spanish will likely place into the intermediate level courses. Students who arrive in Spain having completed two years of college-level Spanish will likely place into the advanced level courses. Students who arrive in Spain having completed three years of college-level Spanish will likely place into the superior level courses.
The GPA requirement for this program is strict and students with lower than a 3.00 GPA will not be admitted to the program, per university policy. No exceptions can be made.
