This program accommodates students of all levels of Spanish proficiency. Beginning and intermediate speakers take one 100 hour Spanish language course, depending on the level and the session. Advanced speakers will select two of three course options, including both grammar and culture courses, for a total of 90 hours on instruction. Classes are comprised solely of ISA students and are taught at the Menéndez Pelayo International University.

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.
Minimum Admissions Prerequisites
For beginning, intermediate, and advanced level Spanish speakers. Students must have a 2.5 GPA. All students must take a Spanish language placement exam upon arrival in Barcelona. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level, and will determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll. Students who arrive in Spain having completed 0-1 semesters of college-level Spanish will likely place into beginning level courses. Students who arrive in Spain having completed 2-3 semesters of college-level Spanish will likely place into the intermediate level courses. Students who arrive in Spain having completed 4 or more semesters of college-level Spanish will likely place into the advanced level courses.
