A native of Detroit, Rachel Mantiñán joined the ISA Barcelona team in 2007. Born to Spanish parents in the US, she has always had a strong connection with the culture. Her passion for travelling began at quite a young age with summers spent in Spain, which later led her to exploring numerous other countries throughout North and Central America, Asia, Africa and Europe. In 2004 Rachel spent a semester abroad in Kenya studying cultural anthropology of the Swahili people. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Cultural Anthropology and History at Albion College in 2005. She has mentored college students and has coordinated student service-oriented trips to Honduras. Rachel has been living in Barcelona since 2005 and is currently working toward a Master's degree in Immigration and Intercultural Education at the University of Barcelona. She also enjoys photography, reading, languages, nature and cooking!
