Academic Year

Students may choose between the following Program Terms:

Hispanic Studies - Universidad de Granada

This program offers Spanish language courses as well as a variety of Hispanic Studies courses at the advanced level. Students will take a minimum of four courses and a maximum of five courses. All classes are taken at the University of Granada. Classmates are international students, the majority of whom are North American. Students with a very high language level may be allowed to take up to two courses with Spaniards.

IMPORTANT: Enrollment in the Hispanic Studies semester program is strictly determined by the results of an on-site placement exam administered by the University of Granada. We strongly suggest that students whose home universities require them to place into Hispanic Studies sign up for Intensive Language month + Semester option so that, by taking a month-long intensive Spanish module before the start of semester classes, they may increase the likelihood of being eligible for the classes they need.

Students who have completed the following number of semesters/quarters of college-level Spanish or the equivalent typically place into the following language levels:

5-8 semesters (8-11 quarters) = High Advanced
6-9 semesters (9-13 quarters) = Superior
9+ semesters (13+ quarters) = High Superior
