Spanish Language, Culture & Electives -Universidad de Granada

This program offers Spanish language courses as well as culture courses at the beginning, high beginning, low intermediate, intermediate,high intermediate, and advanced levels. Students will enroll in two required Spanish language courses at their respective language level and two to three additional electives taught in English or Spanish. Classmates are international students, the majority of whom are North American. Classes are taught at the Center for Modern Languages at the University of Granada.

If the exam indicates that the student's language level is too advanced for this program (High Advanced Language Level or higher), the student may be required to switch to the Hispanic Studies Program.

Students who have completed the following number of semesters/quarters of college-level Spanish or the equivalent typically place into the following language levels:

0-2 semesters (0-3 quarters) = Beginning
1-3 semesters (2-5 quarters) = High Beginning
2-4 semesters (3-6 quarters) = Low Intermediate
2-5 semesters (3-7 quarters) = Intermediate
3-6 semesters (5-9 quarters) = High Intermediate
4-7 semesters (6-10 quarters) = Advanced

Eligibility

Minimum GPA

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.

Minimum Admissions Prerequisites

There is no language prerequisite for this program.

Whether you take the minimum hours of instruction available or maximum hours of instruction available during this program depends on the course equivalency requirements of your home univeristy. The courses in this program consist of 45 hours per class.
