This program offers Spanish language courses as well as a variety of Hispanic Studies courses at the advanced level. Students will take a minimum of four courses and a maximum of five courses. All classes are taken at the University of Granada with international students. However, students with a very high language level may be allowed to take up to two courses with Spaniards.
Minimum GPA
Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.
Minimum Admissions Prerequisites
For advanced level Spanish speakers. Students must have a 2.5 GPA and must have completed 5 semesters, 7 quarters, or the equivalent of college-level Spanish. All students must take a Spanish language placement exam upon arrival in Granada. If the exam indicates that the student's language level is insufficient for this program, the student may be required to switch to the Spanish Language and Culture program.

The courses in this program consist of 40 hours of instruction each. However, students may earn 45 hours per course by attending supplemental sessions and completing additional coursework. Whether you take the minimum (40 hours of instruction per class) or maximum (45 hours of instruction per class) is your choice. This choice should be based on the course requirements of your home university in the U.S. Please check with your home university to find out whether you need 40 or 45 hours per class to earn course equivalents.
Speaking and Writing Skills is a required course for all students who are not bilingual.
