This program offers courses at the intermediate, advanced, and superior levels. Students can take a combination of Spanish language and culture elective courses for a total of 90 contact hours. Students may enroll in overlapping, back to back summer sessions, allowing them to complete 12 credits or 180 contact hours of Spanish. Students will be in class with international students, the majority of whom are North American. All classes are taught by host university faculty at the Centro de Lenguas Modernas at the University of Granada.
If the placement exam indicates that the student's language level is too low for this program (Beginning language level), the student will be required to switch to the Intensive Spanish Language program.
Gap Year students are also eligible for this program. For more information, click.
Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.
Minimum Admissions Prerequisites
Students must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA. All students must take a Spanish language placement exam upon arrival in Granada. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level, and will determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll. This program is well-suited to students at all levels of Spanish language proficiency.
NOTE: Students who place into the beginning levels will be asked to switch to the Intensive Spanish Language Summer Program.
Level is determined by a placement test administered by the University of Granada.
Availability of elective courses is based on enrollment numbers. All students should seek pre-approval for alternate courses in the event of last-minute class cancellations.
