Students may choose from the following Academic Program options:
The Granada Year program is designed for high intermediate and advanced students. In addition to 1-2 mandatory grammar courses, students may choose from a wide variety of classes in Spanish history, culture, and civilization. Classes are offered at the Center for Modern Languages at the University of Granada. Participants are in the classroom with other international students.
A variety of options exist for students wishing to spend a semester in Granada. ISA semester programs at the University of Granada vary in length and content. Programs are available for students at any Spanish language level, from absolute beginner to very advanced. Students at the high-intermediate and advanced levels may also select programs which focus more heavily on Spanish culture and civilization. Participants are in the classroom with other international students.
During the summer, ISA offers 5-week programs for students at any Spanish language level. The Intensive Spanish Language programs focus on language acquisition. The Spanish Language and Culture programs have both a language and culture component. Participants are in the classroom with other international students.
The Intensive Month programs give students at any Spanish language level the chance to improve their language skills. The program consists of four weeks of grammar and conversation classes at the University of Granada's Center for Modern Languages. Participants are in the classroom with other international students. The intensive month may be completed as an individual program, or it may serve well as a precursor to another longer program.
ISA is committed to offering students opportunities to go beyond the classroom and participate in a service-learning or internship program while abroad.
ISA's Service-Learning and Internship division, ELAP, offers opportunities to work at local organizations in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. ELAP-facilitated programs are available independently or may be combined with an ISA academic program. All ELAP programs encourage personal and professional growth, develop language proficiency, and facilitate meaningful community engagement. Students will develop an ELAP Portfolio throughout the program, documenting their projects, hours, and program activities.
In addition to ELAP-facilitated programs, several of ISA's host institutions offer internships or service-learning opportunities in addition to coursework. Students who choose this option will be enrolled in an ISA program and elect to take an internship or service-learning course through the host university and, upon completion, receive a host university transcript for their coursework.
ISA Master's Degree programs allow students to complete a fully-accredited Master's Degree in only one year in a wide variety of fields and disciplines. ISA Granada Master's Degree programs are available through the Universidad de Granada with courses taught in Spanish by university professors. ISA students will enroll in courses along side Spanish and international students.
This program is designed for students at all Spanish language levels. All levels will take language courses focusing on the skills of writing, reading, speaking and listening. Students will be in class with Americans and other international students.
